What an I-94 record is
Form I-94 is the arrival/departure record U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) uses to document a nonimmigrant admission. For most air and sea arrivals the record is electronic, and you can retrieve your most recent I-94 and travel history on CBP's official I-94 website.
Your visa and your I-94 are different documents. A visa in your passport is used to seek admission; the I-94 records the admission itself, including the class of admission and the admit-until value.
Why keep more than the latest one
A new I-94 can come from several places: a new entry, an approval notice with an I-94 attached after a change or extension of status, or a correction. Which record is most recent can depend on whether you traveled after an approval. Later applications may also ask about past entries and admissions.

A simple routine after each trip
- Check your record after you arrive. Look up the new I-94 on CBP's website once it is available.

Where do I find my I-94?
